Sweetylight was founded by a health-conscious family: Manuel, Andrea, and Carlos.

The three founders realized during their extensive business travels around the globe and their years spent in the US that people have less time for a healthy diet. An ever increasing number of us just rush through our meals that are full of artificial colors and flavors and yet have very low nutritional value. These food choices in turn contribute to more diabetes, obesity, and other health problems.

The founders have always wanted to do something to improve this situation. As they traveled around Peru, their native country, they realized that these health problems, so evident in the US, were not present there. They wondered what caused the difference. Through their research, the founders discovered that Peru is one of the richest countries in nutritionally dense foods. These “super foods” help people avoid many health problems.

Peru’s climate—with its mountains, deserts, jungles, and coastlines—has created a unique flora with extreme concentrations of nutrients: “super foods” that fueled the “chasquis,” the runners who ran tirelessly across thousands of miles to link the furthest reaches of the vast Incan Empire.
